Summary
Expertise
I'm currently based at the School of GeoSciences, University of Edinburgh. My PhD explores the feasibility of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology in emerging economies, BRICS in particular. CCS may reduce the impacts of greenhouse gas emissions on climate and ocean acidification. The central focus of my research was to see how CCS might have a role within the energy system of India, which is facing increasing pressure due to development needs.
As an interdisciplinary researcher, my interests lie in the interface between applied science, technology and policy. My research expertise is coupled with a secondment to the Scottish Parliament, working on marine energy technologies. Further experience is at international level, as an observer at various UNFCCC COP/MOP sessions, (assisting negotiations when given the chance!).
I hold an MSc in Environmental Chemistry from Imperial College London (2003), and a BSc with Honours in Environmental Sciences from the University of Edinburgh (2002). I worked for the UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC) at Oxford University from 2005-2007.
