Summary
The topic of my PhD thesis is "Global Journalism. The West and the East: in Search of Common Ground".
I am comparing the news' structure of the Western type of journalism ( Germany, France, England) and the Eastern type of journalism (China, India, Indonesia).
The base of comparison of news' stories is the "universal" model of news which I elaborated at five levels: lexical, syntactical. textual, macrostructural and cultural.
I would like to see the news' model is a complex system with the help of which I will be able to see visially (as a picture) the flow of information, points of bifurcation, attractors etc.
I am a professional journalist who worked for several years for different types of global and local media .During of my PhD studies I have learned the computer language Java and wrote several programs the results of which show me that the model of news, independently from topics, exist. For example, the words from title's stories have the "fixed" points. These fixed points are different for the Western and the Eastern type of journalism.
It means that the journalists use the same or similar "matrix" when they describe events for newspapers. When we have this picture of differences and similarities of rendering news we wiill be able to see the differences in general the Western and the Eastrn "minds".
