Counseling Psychologists of Woodbury
Summary
Robin McLeod, PhD, LP, is a Licensed Psychologist in Minnesota. Her areas of expertise include individual, family and group psychotherapy, psychological assessment with adults and adolescents, and practitioner clinical supervision. She specializes in working with teens and adults who struggle with many mental health challenges including depression, anxiety, relationship conflict, terminal illness, complicated grief, chronic pain, autism spectrum disorders, and other disabilities that interfere with daily living. When she works with couples and families, she focuses on improving relationship communication skills so that family members can solve problems more effectively. In her work with adolescents and adults struggling with the social and emotional challenges of autism spectrum disorders, Dr. McLeod helps people identify the ways that this particular way of being in the world is both a strength and a challenge, and then identifies specific skill sets that need to be learned. In addition to her work directly with clients on the autism spectrum, Dr. McLeod works with parents of children, adolescents and young adults as they struggle with the unique challenges of parenting a child with developmental disabilities or chronic mental illness.
Dr. McLeod holds doctoral and masters degrees in counseling psychology from the University of Minnesota, and a masters degree in Speech Communication from Central Missouri State University. Prior to becoming a psychologist, Dr. McLeod was a high school English teacher and debate coach. As such, she enjoys speaking in the community on topics ranging from parenting teens in the digital age to succeeding in college with Asperger Syndrome. Dr. McLeod is the founder and owner of Counseling Psychologists of Woodbury.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. McLeod is involved professionally in research projects to develop a mental health screening instrument for the Special Olympics of Minnesota. She is co-chair of the Private Practice Division of the Minnesota Psychological Association, and as such, serves in the MPA Governing Council. Email address: mcleod@cpwmn.com.
