Summary
Jesse Stommel teaches as an Assistant Professor of English and Digital Humanities at Marylhurst University in Portland, OR. Dr. Stommel’s work runs the gamut from Shakespeare to postmodernism to horror film. He presents and publishes regularly on film theory, body horror, new media, and digital pedagogy. His courses have radically re-envisioned how we think about and produce media by emphasizing new forms of mass-collaboration. As Director of the English and Digital Humanities Online Program at Marylhurst, he is pioneering approaches to student interaction in digital space. He received his doctorate from the English Department at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he also taught for 10 years in the Departments of Film, Writing and Rhetoric, and English. He is founder, designer, and co-editor of Hybrid Pedagogy: A Digital Journal on Teaching & Technology.
