I'm Interested In Iterative Methods for Developing the Arts

New ideas are often found by combinatorial methods, involving multiple preceding traditions, or one new "fringe" discipline combined with one or more traditional disciplines. Under this paradigm, arts that originally seemed avant-garde, such as Cubism, Op-Art, or Fauvism, could become mere 'tradition-markers' for the new avant-garde.

In my view, Hyper-Cubism is a 'post-post-Cubist' movement, which succeeds where Neo-Cubism did not. The difference is that the method adopted was combinatorial: Hyper-Cubism successfully combines the themes of Cubism and those of Op-Art and Abstract Expressionism. The result is a new avant-garde!

Does anyone have similar experiences of combining old forms, for example, in photography, watercolor landscapes, or digital media?

I am interested in exploring the future nature of the avante-garde, and discovering methods for studying the nature of the avant-garde in general. Any comments on experiences with the avant-garde are welcome. Or you may continue any of the other themes presented in this message.

Iterative Methods could be seen as a way of 'cheating' with the arts, as an extension of the 'gamer cheats' paradigm which has emerged at the beginning of the virtual age. In that sense, Iterative Methods are not only a way of creating art, but also a way of contextualizing art and art criticism.

Essentially, the new art needs to embrace criticism, and even anticipate it, and therefore become a more powerful, stronger idea of art.
